Biography

Description

Sue Hannah was born in Georgia and moved to the Orlando area in 1958. She worked for a catering company, then spent about 12 years traveling with her late partner, Angie Spruill. They ran game booths at carnivals around the country and in Canada.

In 1983, Spruill and Hannah opened Faces Lounge on Edgewater Drive, one of Orlando's first lesbian bars. They wanted a place where gay women could feel comfortable, and there were no such establishments. Spruill died shortly afterward, and Hannah continued to run it.

She also managed the first local women’s bottle club (pay $7 and get free liquor, provided you buy setups), called Sapphos. She later owned the clubs Cheeks and Key Largo (1989-1992).

She died of lung cancer is 2007.
